VSF Explorer II 226570

VSF's take on the current 42 mm Explorer II has surfaced, Polar dial first, with a DD3285 clone movement. What is known, and what is still marketing.

VSF Explorer II 226570 Polar dial

VSF’s version of the current Explorer II, the 42 mm ref. 226570 introduced in 2021, began appearing in mid-October. There was no formal announcement, just photographs and then listings. Only the Polar dial is documented so far: white, with black surrounds, the orange 24-hour hand, and a fixed steel 24-hour bezel on an Oyster bracelet.

Inside is a Dandong DD3285, a clone of the calibre 3285, with an independently jumping local-hour hand. That is the meaningful part: earlier Explorer II replicas relied on modified ETAs or poorly regarded clones.

Early forum observers praise the bezel and crown but note thin marker surrounds, and they disagree about whether the dial finish matches. Claims of 904L steel, a 72-hour reserve and a black-dial version come only from sellers. The genuine 3285 is rated at about 70 hours.

Judgment reserved until one is in hand.
